That sounds like what DrupalGardens provides for multiple galleries. They use D7 Media Gallery Module: http://drupal.org/project/media_gallery which requires: List, Field, Field SQL storage, Options, Number, Taxonomy.
You might try it out on DrupalGardens (set up a free account), and even begin development there, then download the site when you have done all that you can in that environment.

Thanks for the suggestions. Most of the documentation I find on line is to setup a single gallery. I was hoping to setup multiple galleries (one per job). This is the layout i'd have for the /projects page
Joe Smith Home Desc. Image (click single image and opens colorbox to display gallery of x number of photos)
Bob's Burgers Desc. Image (again clickable for gallery of other photos)
Thoughts?

Before getting into Views, site builder needs a content type and fields which are already laid out pretty well. Seems your on the correct path.
content type = Portfolio fields = title, description, image
Setup an image cache preset to size all images properly. Then use CSS for placement of image.

I'd use the Views 3 module. It allows for a great deal of versatility.

Hello,
I am working on a site for a client (construction) and they would like to setup a portfolio page to display some of their work. The goal is to list all the jobs he's worked on and somehow show pictures for some of the jobs. Ideally I would want the following format:
Title Description Image floating left or right of the Description
The obvious choice is some sort of image gallery, but as I am still fairly new to Drupal, I want to know if there are some better choices. If an image gallery is best, what image module would be best that I can embed a particular gallery?
Thanks for your assistance ahead of time.
