That sounds like you want to use an "attachment" display. These are very powerful and are sort of views within views. I'm not sure if there is a tutorial on D.O anywhere, but I got into them when searching for a replacement for the old "glossary" view, so you might search on that if the right term doesn't produce much.

I don't seem to be able to figure this out, but I am sure it must be easy, it would be great, if anybody could help:
I have a slideshow banner on the front page with an associated title (it's a view). I want to link the title not to the individual piece of content, but to the other page of the same view, to get all the info.
I am using drupal 7, views 3.
