Combating spam is never going to be a single module solution. Email Verify is only one of them. And no matter how many you use, you will not be 100% effective. Spammers are very persistent.

Yes, it actually contacts the server to make sure the address is valid and usable.
Okay but if the link between the address and the submitter can't be established, then a spammer could provide any legitimate address, like yours for instance !
