I remember a paypal module that would allow for subscriptions and one that allows for a one time fee.
This one has no releases: http://drupal.org/project/paypal_subscription
but it seems that this one has what you say: http://drupal.org/project/lm_paypal
Says there "It currently supports paid memberships (subscriptions), donations (tip jar) and paid adverts (classified ads)."
