I configured the base url (wasn't before) and white screened. I tried going back and am having no luck.

Look at logs for 404 entries of the template images. Should show the path that it is trying to find the images.

Because drupal is installed in the drupal-6.10 directory, you may need to edit settings.php and configure the base_url. Examples are in settings.php.
