Drupal 7 automatically tests for clean URL support when you install it. You do need to have the Apache mod_rewrite module to allow it and allow overrides in Drupal's directory, so Apache will parse the .htaccess file. A quick Google search reviled that Bluehost have the Apache Rewrite_ Mod is enabled by default. I think we are getting closer... - /public_html/drupal/ - (new install where the problem lies) has only .htaccess.txt and not .htaccess - /public_html/drupal-7.0/ - has both Copied the file over and now the check box appears which I can use to enable clean urls and I can now access /admin/modules for instance.
