All this is great, But. please! 
Let us not look at *how* we can d this (we all have tricks and modules and 
features and configurations) 
Let us first get *what* we should make it do :)

And yet menut otf+books+image_assist+foo-bar does all this. I know. its just 
that it is not yet there

Oh, and did you al notice that *multilingual* part? That is where all 
modules/features/menus-on-flies completely and utterly fail short. 

Yes, you are all US people who tend to think there is only one language :) 
(kidding) but we really need this.
