*Special Bulletin:*
The Antonio Pizzigati Prize
/For Software in the Public Interest/

The Florence and Frances Family Fund at Tides Foundation is
proud to announce the first annual prize program in public
interest computing. This prize will be awarded to a software developer
who has made, in the spirit of open source
computing, an outstanding contribution to the nonprofit world
and the ongoing work of social change.

The Antonio Pizzigati Prize for Software in the Public Interest
will grant a cash award annually for an outstanding contribution
in public interest software development. In 2006, the Pizzigati
Prize will award $10,000 to one individual who has created
or led the effort to create a software product of significant
value to the nonprofit sector. We hope to find an individual who
has developed a software product that:

    * is open source.
    * is available on a no-cost basis to nonprofit and advocacy
      organizations.
    * has demonstrated its value to at least one nonprofit organization.
    * can usefully serve multiple nonprofits.

Three outstanding national leaders in public interest computing will be
selecting the first winner of the Pizzigati Prize.
