I use a managed VPS service called servint (servint.com) and cannot  
recommend them highly enough. Fantastic service and response speed,  
and well worth their cost if you count your own time as worth  
anything :)

They'll install virtually anything straightforward eg GD upgrades, SVN  
server etc for you, usually within 15 - 30 minutes of you asking. And  
if anything goes wrong it's nice to know they won't politely say "fix  
it yourself".
