Carole,

Sorry, I have not seen this issue so I don't have much to offer. These 
kinds of things can have roots in many areas including your hosting 
environment that it's difficult to diagnose. Since it seems to be a SSP 
problem and not a Drupal specific problem, I would turn to the SSP site 
for help. They have a pretty good forum. The developers are pretty 
responsive as well, although you might need to have paid for at least 
one license to get support from the developers.
