No one, I hope, is talking about pushing anything down anyone's throat. In
this and other discussions, I've done my best to present proposals for
change in a direct, constructive, and respectful way. It's about how we
work together on a common goal. There are risks to putting thresholds too
low, and I agree wholeheartedly with the concerns expressed. By just the
same token, there are important risks to gatekeeping: presenting excessively
high barriers to contribution. Either extreme threatens the quality of our
project. My view of the record suggests we sometimes tend to the
gatekeeping extreme. We could take some ameliorative steps, strike a more
productive balance. I can't make the case any better than I have.

"Drupal encourages users and developers to identify issues, welcomes
innovative solutions from new and established contributors, and moves
quickly to adopt high quality patches." That's what I'm aiming for. And I
feel from comments that it's a widely shared goal.
