At this point, I'd suggest just adding a requirement to your module for
PHP5 if you like. PHP4 has been EOL'd, after all.
It should not surprise Dries in the slightest that I am in favor of a
2009 code freeze leading to a late 2009 or even scheduled 2010 release
for 2007. I don't see a need to rush; and I am in complete agreement
with the general opinion that, as Drupal has matured, so too should its
release cycle slow down.
