Hi Laura!
Welcome to the team. Probably the best thing for you to do is to
take a look at our main work product the drupal documentation
handbook. http://drupal.org/handbook The team is in general
agreement that it needs an overhaul and there are various efforts
currently to do that. I tend to believe that when recruiting people,
you should recruit them to do something they are self motivated to
do, or to beg them for a unique and desperately needed skill they have.
Let me lay out a few ongoing efforts.
1) About handbook-Bryan is working on the about section of the
handbook, he could do with some help.
2) Admin help and module handbook pages is an effort that I am
driving. That translating code into english and translating
programmer documentation into executive summaries for users.
3) Anisa and Charlie are looking at over all guidelines for the
handbooks.
4) The marketing team has immediate needs to help address two
pressing problems. First, there are a number of ongoing CMS
evaluations that are occurring that are frequently factually
incorrect. It would be great if there was a get the facts brochure
so that analysts knew the truth. The second problem is that there
are many different industry segments that need to explain the
benefits of Drupal to their communities. Politics, non-profits,
government, enterprise, artists all need documents they can understand.
I am sure there are several other efforts, that Charlie can
coordinate you into.
As for snarkyness, you are not alone. Just use funny symbols so we
understand your personality type and don't flag you for our junk
mail filter.
Cheers,
Kieran
