You can see many (all?) of them in action here:
http://themegarden.org/

You can have a nice looking site w/o a lot of time or any money, and many of 
them are easily customizable w/o a lot of effort.

If you don't want to beg, you can do a little something on your own. That is 
one of the beauties of using Drupal.
