In fact, anything with mailman integration is bound to be better than a product that tries to do all of that lifting by itself. I can't speak for phpbb, but I am happy with my mailman installation.

I have a couple of phpbb forums, and would like people to have the ability to post to these forums via e-mail and receive forum messages via e-mail if they so choose. In other words, I'm looking for "Yahoo Groups"-like functionality. Can Drupal do this? I'm considering installing mailman and mail2forum which, combined with the phpbb I already have installed, is supposed to do this. I've also looked into mailgust, which might work, but isn't open source. Is there a good/popular solution here? Suggestions? Opinions? Is there another open-source product that does this? (combining separate apps to perform a larger task is very Unix-y, but phpbb and mailman are both fairly complex, so a single app that does both might be more useful). I'm not married to phpbb-- my forums are small + I could easily transfer them to drupal or another app. For example, I've heard phorum has mailing list support built-in, though it doesn't quite seem to do what I want. I've seen at least a couple of discussion threads that say "It's hard to believe, but no such open-source product exists", but I don't believe them :)

Hello drupal-support, Ever since installing Drupal, my log seems to be bombarded daily with requests for (in order of frequency: _vti_bin/_vti_aut/fp30reg.dll stat-cgi/awstats.pl and just lately... scripts/..\\..//winnt/system32/cmd.exe Luckily none of these accessible (or even installed) on my reasonably-secure Linux/Apache box. Are these well-known security loopholes? I've devised a strategy to at least get them out of my Drupal logs, and am posting here for folks to pick apart in case there is a more elegant solution. What I've done: Added a new mod_rewrite rule to .htaccess, as follows: #======[start of sample code]====== <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on #Block attempts to run suspicious code RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} "stat-cgi/awstats.pl" [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} "_vti_bin/_vti_aut/fp30reg.dll" RewriteRule .* - [G,L] # snipped rest of Drupal rewrite rules here </IfModule> #======[end of sample code]====== This seems to have done the trick thus far, at least when it comes to keeping my Drupal log from clogging up. Hopefully the "Gone" header result will prevent repetitive attempts as well. You might want to check your server logs to see if you're getting unusually high numbers of requests for your site banner or some other graphic. For awhile, I had some pay-per-click fraud scammer in China downloading my site banner tens of thousands of times a day, along with seeming requests for URLs nowhere on my site. If so, there's some code you can put in .htaccess that will only allow graphics to be downloaded via URLs specifically on your site (this will also block any forum "hotlinkers" you might have). I also see regular requests for files such as proxy.cgi, which I assume is from some script kiddie looking to play. [drupal-support] node programatically creating other nodes?

Is there an example of module that creates/deletes other nodes? I have a custom module that in some circumstances it would be handy if it could create 2 or 3 other (largely boilerplate) nodes in certain circumstances, and in others if it could delete 1 or 2 other nodes. [drupal-support] CVS Procedures and Protocols

Hello Group, I am a long-time programmer (Apache/PHP/MySQL and quite a few others, since before there was such a thing as Windows, or even MS-DOS). That said, I'm a newbie. I've been working with Drupal for just over a week, and though I am no stranger to working in a group, with version control, it has all been in corporate environments, and using Windows-based control systems like StarTeam and Microsoft Visual SourceSafe. I've already found and fixed several bugs I've uncovered in assorted modules I've installed, and so my questions: 1) What is the shortest learning curve to submitting a patch? I do have CVS-NT and Tortoise (though the latter is not installed yet). System is Win2K Pro. 2) Since I want to work with something resembling production-quality, I'm on 4.6.2, not CVS, though some of the modules I've patched are CVS because they aren't available for 4.6.2 -- how are all these related? Are there functions and features in Core CVS that the CVS modules rely on? 3) What is the most accepted protocol for updating another author's module(s)? Email the author directly first? Torsten, This is usually a theming issue. I am no CS guru, but working with PHPTemplate themes and styles, I often noted that features such as width margin padding can influence the apparent width of your site. It is, however, difficult to answer your question as is. Maybe you should provide a way where your code can be observed or maybe tell us what theme you are using, if using a default theme. Usually with just changing a few parameters or CSS values, I get the width close enough to correct.
