Authenticated users cannot see content

Hi, Only user 1 in my drupal 5 install can see any content, even when published. Is there something else I should look for? Thanks. Joe

Miserable Installation Process

ok .............. deep breaths .... (in through nose, out through mouth) ...... (in through nose, out through mouth) ...... (in through nose, out through mouth) ...... Per the many suggestions ... I've spent the last three hours trying to get Apache/PHP setup. Apache 2.2.6 is working fine .... I downloaded gunziiped PHP 5.2.5 ... untarred, and started to go through the Apache2/PHP Unix installation as found here: http://us.php.net/manual/en/install.unix.apache2.php The instruction say .... ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql So, I did this and got the error message: "configure: error: Cannot find MySQL header files under yes." On the thread located on this page, one user quoted ..... "| There is little or no documentation regarding the fact that MySQL Client Library isn't bundled with PHP anymore. The installation instructions need to be changed with, at the very least, some instructions for how to get PHP to recognize that the client library is installed. I realize that this may be a problem with licensing and as such, it's not possible to document too much regarding MySQL..." Other messages seem to indicate that either: a) MySQL has to be on that box now in order to get the libraries b) you have to download mysql and compile it in order to get the libraries. Can some PLEASE (and I am beggin now) please point me where I can get the PHP MySQL libraries so I can finish configuring my PHP with Apache, so I can correctly test Drupal 5.3 on that system .... Or ................. should I just use an older version of PHP 5.x that DOES have these mySQL libraries .... ========================================================================================================================== As you might remember from previous messages ... I did two installs of Drupal 5.3 on Resin. One one machine (my laptop) Drupal-Resin-MySQL were all on one machine and it ran without issues. Perfectly fine! In our real-world work environment ... reasonably so, the MySQL Server is on another machine/server and run by MySQL DBA's. And when I did a Resin/Drupal install ... it worked ... but then started to break .... but that could have been on modules issues or something else .... I certainly know (ok, i presume) that Drupal 5.x will perfectly work on Apache/PHP on one machine while the database resides on another machine. Right! I've provided as much information as I have ... if you need more ... please ask me nicely .... Please ... I am begging again ... help me with install PHP with the Mysql Libraries so I can finish configuring it and setting it up. |

separation of comment and forum moderation

Is it possible to have moderated comments but un-moderated forums? Both still require a user account, but I don't want my forum posts all appearing in my comment approval queue. Thanks, Eric.

Tom, What OS is this machine? Maybe there is already a pre-compiled mysql package for mysql and php for your particular OS. Pat PS I've changed the subject line to better reflect your issue. Wow ... absolutely stunning ... Anton ... Yes, I know ... I am not 100% using the recommended requirements of Apache and the mod_php, Maybe thats because the Drupal Community hasn't tested this out with Tomcat, JBOSS, Resin, or any of a dozen other web-servers out there. I've have done EXTENSIVE research and there are quite a few articles extolling the virtues of running Drupal on Resin for the performance boost. Go ahead and Google: Resin and Drupal ..... If I had installed this on Apache and STILL got the error ... do you honestly think I would get an answer quicker? I've spent the last two days researching this issue and from what I can see, this was an issue with 4.x which NEVER got resolved. Now it seems the issue is still around ... and STILL there is no answer as to what is going on or how to fix this once and for all. This is why corporations can go to proprietary software .... in hopes of getting a definitive answer ... there is no such promise from the open source world. But hey ... I'm an OSS advocate ... but if I had installed this on Apache, and still get this error ... I STILL wouldn't be able to sell this solution. Where I work ... we're a JAVA/J2EE shop and we have Resin which runs all our java/j2ee applications. And I have been a Java/j2ee developers for the past decade ... If I had written Drupal with the problems it has now without logging and more expansive error messages ... I'd be out of a job. if I was a PHP programmer ... I'd probably have this fixed by now ... Maybe I could make a few suggestions to the Drupal community: 1) accept that it is a problem and fix it 2) maybe expand on the error messages instead of the generic message 3) maybe expand on some logging since this doesn't seem to generate any logging at all for this issue. These would go a long way to explaining what the issue is and how to fix it ... right? I wasted a lot of time today completely doing a fresh install only to get the same results three times ... After about the fourth time, I added all my modules at once and it finally started working. However ... I don't know if this error will pop up some time in the future .... and if it does ... I'm not gonna sell Drupal as a solution. Thanks! Tom

Validation Error

After adding a few modules, and after a submit most forms ... now I get the error: "Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator." I AM the site administrator. After going to the Drupal site, and going on Google, I can't find out why this was caused. Where is this coming from? Why is it random? And MOST IMPORTANTLY how can I fix it????????????? The very last thing I want to do is blow away my drupal dev environment, re-install it from scratch, add the CCK module, and the imagefield, link, and date modules ... and then ultimately come back to the same issue. I think the date CCK 1.7 module breaks the views .... but that's another issue. Please, please, please .... tell me how I can get rid of this validation error!!!!!! Thanks! Tom
