problem with tmp folder and permission

Hi, I don't know how to solve this. In my drupal installation directory I have a folder called "tmp". I receive an error by drupal, I read it in the log, it says approximately: "can't write to tmp directory, because permissions are not correct". Sorry I'm traslating from italian. The permissions of tmp are 755. If I change to 777 I have no problem, but 777 is unsecure. Is 755 a wrong number for a directory? What should I put instead? thanks.

Booking a period of time (again..)

Hi, me again, and almost same subject :( Things are evolving and I arrived to something sure (i hope so..) What I need to do now is something different than before. I need to create a day, hour-to-hour (eg: 9am to 4pm), and let people book a part of this time, 1 hour or just 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on... more than 1 user can book this period of time but only after admin approval it have to disappear from availability times. What I did now is this a new content type where - Admin user creates one content per hour (9am to 4pm are 7 contents) - Authenticated users can book this time by commenting it - "Actions" sends an email to Admin user - "moder8" moderate booking-comment - on Views2 it disappear from availability as said, the biggest problem is that users don't have to book hour by hour but a period of 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.. so I can't create a post for every hour.. any idea? thnaks :|

Getting a "Path already in use" after a node disappeared

I had a user delete a node by accident and now when I attempt to recreate the node I get the message "Path already in use" This was the flow: 1) I created the node (which the path /fundraising) 2) I pointed a few menu to it. 3) I change the "author" of the node to her - so she could edit it. 4) She hit the delete by accident (I think) At least that's what's she telling me, I wasn't there. I've searched for the node every way I can think of but I can't find it. So, where is that "path" reference being stored (or used?) thank you Cozzi

CPU usage

Hello, I'm having trouble with CPU usage on my Drupal 5 site. I just enabled caching, and hopefully that will solve the problem, but I want to look at what else I can do to reduce CPU usage further. On the performance page, Drupal gives me the option to "Aggregate and compress CSS files". This sounds pretty good, as it would reduce bandwidth and HTTP requests. But I'm concerned that the compression might increase CPU usage. Can anyone tell me if selecting the "aggregate and compress CSS files" option will increase my CPU usage? Can anyone suggest other ideas to decrease my CPU usage? Thanks, Daniel.

Most suitable ecommerce module

Hello support, I'm planning a drupal based ecommerce website. There will be an affiliate role for buyers with a special % discount on each purchase, and a custom discount for some of these users (affiliated) . The shop will count many products, probably around 1000. Finally we'll use a custom payment gateway with a local bank api. I read about ecommerce module (of which I got a book by M.Peacock,2008 about v3 on D5) and ubercart module. After searching on the web for comparison of these two modules, I've started some days ago to create 2 different test sites on D6. Not yet tried to customize theme or work with APIs. I'm still confused.. Can somebody give me any hint about ? Thanks a lot, Luca

Anonymous user does not have access to view

I have created a CCK content type that contains a field defined as a node reference. The value in this field is available to logged in users but not to anonymous users. I'm defining a variable thus: $coupon = $node->field_coupon[0][view]; then later testing for a value, thus: <?php if ($coupon): ?> <div id="coupon" class="field field-type-nodereference field-field-coupon"> <?php print "Print ". $node->field_coupon[0][view] . " for " . $node->field_coupon_terms[0][value]; ?></div> <?php endif; ?> $coupon has a value for logged in users but not for anonymous users. I do have the nid value available ($node->field_coupon[0][nid]) so it is possible to select the referred to node by selecting from the database but I'd rather not if I don't have to. Thanks, Scott

Using hook_views_pre_build

I am trying to do a custom sort on a view, and I've read that I should be using the hook_views_pre_build. I have my module with the code below, but it isn't doing anything. I've tried to print, drupal_set_message, and exit, and it doesn't look like it's getting run. I've built lots of modules before, so I am confident the module is set up right, but I've never used this hook. Just as a little bit of extra background, I have a video content type, and it is related to a company. I want to sort the video listing so videos whose related companies are published show up before the companies that aren't published. Photo gallery problem with theme...

Hello All, I have a small site running drupal 5.x . Recently I have changed the them of the site and added the photo gallery modules in that. But I am not able to view the photos uploaded in the gallery. I am able to upload and view the thumbnail of the photos. If I click on any photo it only enlarge but not able to see. the details related to photo I can able view. I switch back to basic theme and checked the gallery then the photo gallery is working fine with all the functionality. Can any one tell me how I can solve this problem?
