Hello, another thing I'd need from Drupal is Geotagging support, that is the ability to categorize and search content based on location: "This node is associated these coordinates" "List all relevant nodes associated to places maximum 100 miles from my home" I've seen with Google there is a location module. I'll study it, but any feedback, code example, URLs of Drupal sites already doing this etc are greatly appreciated. TIA, Ortles

Thanks to all who already answered to my request on "How to make drupal friendly to Wordpress / blog users?" Answers to that thread are still very much appreciated, of course, since I'd really like to put together as much info as possible. In the meantime, the feedback I got helped me to reformulate better the following parts of the problem: 1) I've discovered and read with great interest the thread "Wordpress vs Drupal; what's in a reputation?" at http://drupal.org/node/29364 I have the same need expressed by debocracy ("blogging in drupal" comment) on October 28, 2005 : > I need something that is acceptable to Technorati and other > blog traffic sites that is not embarrassingly dull and > featureless. so one of my questions becomes "how to make drupal-generated content automatically findable and indexable by Technorati and other blog search engines just as if it had been made with wordpress??" 2) the other thing I'd need to know and study is how the trackback and pingback/pingomatic capabilities of Drupal differ from those of wordpress. Links to full reviews and comparisons of these specific aspects, tutorials, first hand experience and tips, pointers to Drupal sites which already offer trackback/pingback are greatly appreciated. I don't care if *I* have to do things by hand or from the command line, and I want the sites more powerful than most blogs I've seen. I only want these sites to be WP-like for *others*, that is in: accessibility, findability and linkability by casual bloggers: There are millions of people who would prefer torture to seeing or editing HTML or PHP: but today they all have their blogs, and can immediately link and refer to each other because by now they can all trackback, pingback and search technorati. I want my content to be linkable/trackable to and from normal blogs just like, and with the same ease for my *visitors*, if it had been created with WP or anything else which, by default, adds "pingback" "trackback" and similar universally known buttons for the web-coding challenged. And for the same reasons, I want it to be searched/indexed also by blog specific search engines, just if it were a "normal" blog. I don't care if *I* have to patch Drupal by hand or hack my own scripts, but I'd really like to know what is the easiest way to achieve the above. Thanks for any help, Ortles

I noticed that PHPTemplate 4.5 was not working with my Drupal site version 4.5 However, the themes for 4.5 do seem to work with the installation of 4.5 However, it seems that I'm now seeing problems as I select add content. It has the permissions necessary, more than what is requied. Questions that exist now, are whether I should try to get PHPTemplate 4.5 to work with my Drupal 4.5 installation. I'm not sure why I'm having problems with that. I was able to remove it, go to PHPTemplates 4.6 and it seemed to work with my Drupal 4.5 installation, where 4.5 of PHPTemplate was not working. If I switch to a non-PHPTemplate theme, I don't have this problem. Any suggestions? This is rather bizarre, I know. I'm looking for something for a poetry magazine that published supernatural poetry as well as dark/horror writing. So, a dark theme maybe would be good. My next question is relating to access and posting for users, roles, on the site. I want to allow even anonymous persons/roles to submit stories, maybe a poem content type, which I saw as a good idea suggested to me, and blogs, pages, etc. I just need to be sure that any content submitted will need to be approved first for posting. I can see how to setup that requirement for comments but I' m looking for that for any content, any nodes. How do I do this? I know I enquired about this previously and so if it was answered, forgive me. I do read what I get but I can't find any message with this discussed. Again thanks for tips on the theme issues. This doesn't happen for others often so have others used 4.5 and 4.4 as well as the more recent versions? Hi, I have to build a new website. Initially I considered wordpress, then I realized that Drupal is better for the way I must/want manage and categorize content. The reason to consider wordpress was that all blogging software make very easy to bloggers (= web surfers who do not know and do not want to know php, html, mysql....) to trackback, pingback, discover new articles through technoratic, pingomatic and similar, write about them and cross link them... In a nutshell, I had the impression that I should use a blog tool not because it was best for *me* as the publisher: only to make it much easier and faster for the non technical web user to discover and cross-reference (=advertise!) my own pages from their blogs: you know, to provide all the trackback, pingback, permalink stuff etc... that they already know from *their* own wordpress/ MT/whatever installation. So the question is, if/how it is possible to make a Drupal Website look/act like another blog from this point of view? Which settings, plugins, whatever? Also, can you provide URLs of drupal-powered websites which already do this, so I can see the final effect? Thanks in advance for any feedback, Ortles

excessive bandwith usage

Greetings all, My site appears to be using too much bandwith. Iam on a shared hosting server and my provider has told me I am using in excess of 16% whilst I am only allowed 3% It also appears there about 50,000 visitors a day to the site which is a bit alrming as I have less than 300 members, What modules or scripts do you guys think are causing this excessive bandwith usage? I am running drupal 4.63 regards Larry
