Basic help getting started

Hi all, While I did get Drupal installed, I am having some startup problems with my first Drupal sites. I have more than one, as it appears that Drupal is a web application that will be useful for a few different sites. One of the first issues deals with themes. It seems that themes would be much easier to use and setup then things have been for me. Unfortunately, the themes I check out at: http://drupal.org/project/themes/ when downloaded, do not have a readme or installation instructions file that will tell one what to do. Relatedly, the PHPTemplate theme tool said that all one does it upload the expanded zip (actually it was a tar/gz file) and upload it to the themes/engine folder. Am I supposed to look for something after this is installed? I had used Fantastico to install Drupal 4.6.4 but thought that PHPTemplate was installed; I guess I was wrong. At the risk of sounding naive, what does one do to use PHPTemplate? It said that only one file is needed in the particular theme folder such as theme/mytheme I'm missing something, as I'm still not seeing any additional themes from the default installation. So, to get started with Themes, and PHPTemplate, I will need to do what? or start where? The second question deals with menus and Contact forms. Suppose I want to add a menu item which will present a form for submitting content to two different email addresses. I know that for a menu item, I first create the new menu and then add that menu as a block. However, the path to a contact form to contact some default emails, like editors, is not presenting itself clearly for me. Hi, I need to access a 4.6 version of a drupal module that's in the CVS contrib directory. Trick is that the cvs is already at the 4.7 version (yeah - but not for this project). How do I pull down the 4.6 version from the cvs. I've got the cvs of the drupal contribs, but haven't pulled out a 4.6 branch before. Are there docs somewhere you could point me to? save configurationfor modules does not work

I have a NEW (not an upgrade) drupal install: Drupal 4.6.5, 2005-12-12) mysql 4.0.24 php 4.3.11 it seems to be mostly working didn't try everything yet) except of Few administration tasks in Administer section. 'Modules' and 'Theme' pages show me the list of modules/themes, some are required, the rest are disabled. If I check any module/theme's 'Enabled' checkbox and hit the 'Save configuration' button I get the following error (example for one module, if I check more than one the same stuff is repeated): warning: sprintf(): Too few arguments in ./includes/database.inc on line 164. user error: Query was empty query: in ./includes/database.mysql.inc on line 66. warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at ./includes/common.inc:384) in ./includes/common.inc on line 192. other db errors when trying to enable blocks: warning: mysql_real_escape_string() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in ./includes/database.mysql.inc on line 239. any ideas what's going on? It looks like there's something wrong with the database (I just installed it, it was not an upgrade). TIA erik

Cron Error with Notify Module

File Uploads in IE6

Hi, I have a problem that file uploads doesn't work in IE6 on Windows XP, using Drupal CVS from late December. Testing this exact same site in FireFox means that the problem must be IE related. Anyone else get problems here too? Is it settings I have to change in IE? Here is the symptoms: Try to upload a file: 1. Create a node (story, page, whatever) 2. Browse for a file 3. Click Attach... What happens is that, in IE, a new blank window opens up when you click the Attach... button. The file is never uploaded, and the file upload animation loops indefinately. Is this a bug, or a issue with my browser specifically? I have tested on two computers, but both computer may have exhibit the same configuration issue. Before I get a lecture again about using the wrong browser, let me just state that most people that I create sites for are not technical people and wouldn't know the difference between FireFox and a porcupine. They don't have "Internet Explorer", they have "The Internet", so I create the site to primarily work for them in IE, en if it doesn't work in FireFox I tweak it afterwards. Regards, Kobus

Manipulation of data in tables

Hi, here is my problem: I've created a Registration form using webform in the create content section. It works fine. The data which is entered through the registration form goes into the webform_submitted_data table. The registration form is designed for 2 different newsletters; newsletter1 & newsletter2, The fields of the registration form is as Name, Address & Email etc, what I want that to extract the Email id's from the table webform_submitted_data and insert it into sn_subscriptions table for subscription list of respected newsletters in the newsletter module instead of using the subscription form of the simplenews module. For that I wrote certain codes here: $mail1=db_fetch_object(db_query("select distinct data from {webform_submitted_data} where nid=250 and name='Email-ID'")); $result=count($mail1); for($i=1; $i<=$result; $i++) { db_query("INSERT INTO {sn_subscriptions} (mail, uid, a_status) VALUES ('%s', %d, %d)", $mail1, $uid, 1); } The problem is that it does not insert the data into sn_subscriptions table. plz help me out. flexinode print problem

hello, I'm having trouble with using the print module (printer friendly version of the sites' pages) together with flexinode. some flexinode fields are shown on the printer friendly page, others aren't. we're using four flexinode types. the fields that are not shown are all fields I added to the flexinode types afterwards, though using the same method (using the 'content types' admin interface) as the fields that are shown correctly on the print pages. I looked at the database structure: all seems fine there too. I'm guessing that the fields that are missing on the print pages don't get put into $node->body, which is called in the print.tpl.php file. the question is why this happens to some fields only, appearantly all fields I added later on . or maybe it doesn't have anything to do with that .. for an example: check http://www.indymedia.be/nl/node/948 and http://www.indymedia.be/nl/node/948/print, where all is ok. then check http://www.indymedia.be/en/node/884 and http://www.indymedia.be/en/node/884/print where the text disappears on the print page. We're trying to create a horizontal menu with data from a taxonomy. It's three deep. Ideally the first level would be horizontal, the second and third would be vertical, ie, the menu options drop down, and then if there is a third level it comes out and drops down again. After looking at a number of options (eg. jsdoMenu, rewriting our xTemplate them in phpTemplate, hardcoding menu, etc) we decided we would try to get Nick Lewis' phpTemplate menu (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/hvmenu/index.htm) working in xTemplate. Not sure this is feasible... Anyway, we've got the css stuff working but want to find a hack that would allow us to run a php snippet in the appropriate place in the template. Under the existing <tr> for the logo and primary and secondary menus we were thinking of doing something like: <tr><td colspan="2" class="topmenu">test<?php $TheMenu = theme_menu_tree(17); print $TheMenu; ?> </td></tr> Can we create a {mymenu} that would run this code snippet? Or is there a different way we can do this using xTemplate? Advice welcome. (Yeah, we should have figured out menuing before doing theme in xTemplate, but we're newbies...)
