[drupal-support] can't complete installation of event module in 4.6

I'm having trouble installing the event module, and hope someone can help me. I've got drupal 4.6 and version 4.6 of the event module. Step #4 in the INSTALL file says "4. You must then enable one or more node types to be used with the event system. You can do this by going to admin/node/configure/types and selecting a node type from the list. If the event calendar is installed properly you should see a section called 'Show in event calendar:' with three options below it: " But there is no 'node' under the Administration menu. How do I connect the event module to the correct node type? BTW, I do have the flexinode module installed, and event and flexinode both appear under the 'settings' menu. Can anyone help? TIA Petre

[drupal-support] Drupal Time Zones / DST

I was wondering what the best way to handle Daylight Savings Time in Drupal. I am moving to 4.6 so you can assume that is what we are talking about :) Here is what I am currently doing: 1. I have user configurable time zones turned off. 2. I set the size wide time zone to GMT-500 when not in Daylight Savings Time. 3. When DST started in April, to make the site times look correct, I had to change the time zone of my sites to GMT-400. A few questions on the above: 1. Is this the best way to handle or is there a better way? I am actually telling Drupal that I am in a different time zone (-400) which is not true so it seem like a hack to get it to show the correct time.. 2. Will this cause me any problems? It seems that it will affect the times of old posts.. 3. Why does Drupal not have a checkbox to tell the system that the site follows DST like most operating systems do? There is a lot of talk about timezone related issues on drupal.org..so much so that I wasn't sure what applied to my questions and what didn't ..also what issues are not old issues not related to 4.6. Post date/times are more of annoyance..probably not a huge deal even if I left the time zone and the time was wrong part of the year, but this will cause me problems with the events module which I really really like! [drupal-support] Help to create a "special" user

I need to create a special role/user on my site. Basically I want the users to log in with an username and password I provide without registering new accounts. It should work as a just multi-user role with specific permissions. The problem is that anyone can log-in and modify the password. So, how can I lock the access to the user page even for the same user? I'm looking for a small mod in order to add this option in the access control page. So I can lock the account properly. -HRose / Abalieno

[drupal-support] Webform.module: How to edit dimensions of textarea?

After upgrading from 4.5.2 to 4.6, the textareas of my webforms had shrunk to one line. I see how to set width and height when adding a new textarea component to a webform, but no way to edit the width and height of an existing textarea. Is this possible? Also, this is a bug in webform upgrade. Previously (4.5.2), the width and height of a textarea were set by having the value of database field "extra" be, for instance, "80x40". Now it contains a structured string, as follows: a:3:{s:11:"description";s:23:"Enter your message here";s:4:"cols";s: 2:"80";s:4:"rows";s:2:"40";} Thanks, Cheryl

Hi My hosts died on me in an ugly way, and I am stuck with a not working watchdog table (all other tables I was able to repair) This results in not being able to go to /admin (/admin/block etc work) since the logs are presented on the first admin page (if this is needed in the first place is another question) I tried to repair the table but it fails mysql> repair table watchdog; +----------------+--------+----------+-----------------------------+ | Table | Op | Msg_type | Msg_text | +----------------+--------+----------+-----------------------------+ | willy.watchdog | repair | error | 28 when writing to datafile | | willy.watchdog | repair | error | 28 when writing to datafile | | willy.watchdog | repair | status | Operation failed | +----------------+--------+----------+-----------------------------+ Since watchdog is only used for the admin, I think I can just delete the table and recreate it? Is this the case and if so, could someone give some instructions for a 4.5 instalation? note, also on http://drupal.org/node/23268

[drupal-support] permissionn need for <top-level> in book pages

I'm creating a book page, if I logged in as admin (UID 0) then, in Parent I have the option '<top-level>', but if i'm logged in as another user, i don't have this option while having the rest of book pages. What permission should I set for this ? Thank you in advance. maykel

Hi all, I was just installed Drupal 4.6.0 and htmlarea 4.6.0 according to their respective instructions. Everything looks great! Thanks a lot for this great product. At present I have some small problems to which I haven't found any proper answers in forum or this mailing list. 1. how to resize the default htmlarea when I do "create content"? I successfully changed the height or width of the plain textarea. but this htmlarea seems reluctant to change a bit, even when I attempt to do "maximise the editor", a toolbar button on htmlarea. 2. how to change the layout of "create content" page? It has too many options scattered all over the page, with the most important input box somewhere in the middle. i expect to make the input area as evident and large as possible, and put all options together at the foot of the page. 3. the "calendar block for browse archive" seems to only search with UTC time. so when i click on a date, it would be sorting out nodes on a different day. 4. how to let "calendar block for browse archive" only sort out certain type of nodes, say blog. because browing archive is most useful when you want to check you blog rather than other types of content. Greatly appreciate if anybody could help on these problems. Best regards, zZ

Does the core file upload mechanism provide a way to display a download link, or must the author of the node figure out the link based on the url displayed on the edit page?
