Hi all, I'm a bit troubled with the combination access control and menus. An example: I would like to give access control to forums for all visitors. In return I don't want to see the forum link in the menu if the visitor is not registered. This can sound strange. You could think whats the point if a visitor can open a forum to read, but in return can't see the link to do it. The answer is simple. I want a menu as clean and short as possible. Since there will be a block with the latest port, every visitor can click on that block to read it. In return he or she would be ending up in the forum and therefor there would be no need to make a menu item for this action. Basically it comes to this. Can you change the permissions on menu items individually. When to show up, and when not to show up for certain circumstances. Thanks in advance. [drupal-support] RSS items as nodes(?) on other pages?

Any thoughts on how I could go about accomplishing the following? I want to aggregate some RSS feeds and have them show up beneath the sticky posts at the top of page, as if they were nodes in that page's taxonomy. I don't want people to have to go to /aggregator to see them -- and would in fact, prefer not to have them appear there. I thought maybe I needed to have my RSS items be first class nodes, and took a look at contrib module node_aggregator, but that module is way out of date. Then I thought maybe I'm just missing something simpler that all you smart folks might know about. :-) Suggestions? -- Chris Johnson

Hi all, After a long time of testing and head-breaking, I made the switch to Drupal. I needed a new CMS for an ever growing project I started 2 years ago. Back in the beginning I started with PHP-nuke, not knowing of anything else. After three months I got hacked (or better cracked) so I made the easy switch to Postnuke. Only since last year I needed something better, something more stable. The choice was hard, even when it was clear from the start that Drupal would make it in the final. I have tested more then 100 CMS systems, some good, some very bad. Eventually the podium was Mambo on 3 and Typo3 in second. Where Mambo comes in short for multiple site configuration and Typo3 in to much server demanding and complex. Now that I made the choice of Drupal I was wondering. Are there here some friendly people that would like to help build or fine tune a worlds winner site. This for the worlds biggest and absolute number 1 women cycling site. Of course you would get full credentials for your input. Which should count for something. Even if we are still rather small, we are growing every day without limits. The ladies cycling sport is a very underestimated sport, as well as not a full professional sport. Helping shape the future of cycling is our goal. And you can be part of that to. Even if you are not in to cycling, it does not matter. What should matter for you is expanding you referrals and credentials for future projects and prospects. Looking at the weather I can't ask for hard work, just tips and hints. I will do the hard work in this 30 degree hot weather. Surprise me and overload my mailbox. Hopefully with good mails ;-). [drupal-support] events not showing up in calendar or events list

Thanks to Gerhard and Rafael, I got the event module working. But now when I create an event, it doesn't show up on the calendar nor on the Events list. I looked at the node table in MySQL and it has the two test entries I created. But they just don't appear on the webpage. Is there something I have to toggle on to make them visible? TIA. Petre

Is it possible to install drupal using an existing MySQL database that is currently utilized by PHPNuke? (This database actually houses two PHPNuke sites, each of which creates its own tables.) Or, do we need an entirely separate database? Thanks, David

[drupal-support] Large taxonomy hangs server?

We have a Drupal 4.5 site running on a Pentium 4 with 1GB RAM (shared with other sites: one Drupal 4.5, some WordPress, some MT) and it might be that Drupal has been responsible for hanging it several times. The server gets collapsed and the only solution is to restart it - the hard way. (Ruby On Rails was the suspect so we move it to another server, but now it has happened again) The site < http://www.popmadrid.com > is a music community/ecommerce site [1], with two vocabularies (bands and labels) with +700 (seven hundren) terms each (being this huge vocabs the new suspects...). And not much traffic: 1200 users daily and 5000 page views. We activated the MySQL logs (general and slow) since last time and this morning the server crashed again. So we have fresh material to look at :) But it shows nothing strange :( (or at least something I can't get a clue from) At 7:55 this morning mysqlslow starts to get fillep up with slow querys from the DB Drupal is running on (and some querys from another apps). They are normal Drupal querys from core modules - The first query start at Query_time: 6; with many querys each second. Gradually (for 3-4 minutes) querys starts taking more time, 10-20, until some peaks of 120-130 query time and then query times between 40/60 and 100/150, with some very huge UPDATE cache SET data in the middle, until 8:25. At 8:24 with get query times of 400 up to 1200 at 8:35, the time at which messagges log stopped loggin anything. mysqlslow kept logging querys up to 2000 query time until we restarted.
