Sorry, you're correct, I did misunderstand the question. With the caveat that I'm unfamiliar with the E-publish node to give you exact info, but my guess is how possible/easy hard will depend greatly on which theme engine you're using.
This kind of stuff I think is most easily accomplished using a PHPTemplate based theme.
The PHPTemplate engine makes it fairly easy to create content type specific template sections, but you'll need to be a familiar with PHP coding and the e-publishing api in order to accomplish this. There's a reasonably good primer on theming specific content types at:
So I guess what I'm suggesting as a general strategy is to develop an e-publish specific tpl file to add the variables that your interested in.
Of course, if you're using a different theme engine?.....
Again sorry to have so blatently misunderstood you're question. Good luck!

Dear Dave, Thanks for the reply. I think you have misunderstood my question.
I know about the primary/secondary links. What I want is closely related to e-publish module.
Using e-publish module, different editions of a publication can be created. Within each editions, we add a group of nodes. What I want is a link to the edition index, in each of these nodes. The publication reader will be able to use this link to go back to the table of contents of the current edition. Instead of adding a static link everytime, I woule like to add this link automatically.
An example can be seen at chintha.com/epublish/1
thanks, Paul

Certainly you could alter your theme to include a static link:
Many themes also include the ability to display primary or secondary links which you can enter via the administer/themes menu (select configure tab). Be careful as they (primary and secondary links) are specified in different places for different themes.
Another technique I often use is to create a custom block with the
link.

Hi, I am trying to use the epublish module for a monthly magazine. One of the feature we would like to have is a link from the node pages back to
the edition index page. Is this possible through theming?
