To those who asked and others interested,
I've just committed a patch http://drupal.org/node/234305 after a couple of days worth of debugging and testing. I have not fully tested this module yet but I do know that basic filtering and actions work for the user maintenance. I do not know if the administrative notifications work yet. Comments are welcome to the above issue node. Please note that since I've just committed the change the development snapshot will happen later tonight during the normal cron run. So if you want to install the file watch http://drupal.org/node/180199 for a newer date.
Enhancements over the 1.x version include greater control over the filtering. You can choose a range of operations other than 'is equal to'. And for those of you where this is important I know that you can now choose an Access of Never.

Great, thanks! I'll check with the boss this coming week to see if they're OK with using something that's technically still in development on what is now a production site, but I suspect that should be fine. I'll report any bugs we find through the usual channels. :-)
