Fixed it. I just did a check against the $field['queryname'] for the 'node_body' and did a substr there. That should work.

What would the override function be for the body field in a table view? The view is named recentarticles_bottom if that is integrated into it. I want to shorten the teaser without setting the size globally. I think I'm going about this right.

I have the phptemplate_views_view_table_recentarticles_bottom function working in template.php if that helps.
