Hello,
I'm running a site with Drupal 5.1 and I have a few custom content types. I've got it setup so for certain paths, there are specific themes that apply.
Is there a way to set a default path for certain content types? At least for a start and then the number after that? For example, childrens/node/135 rather than node/135.

pathauto should help you. http://drupal.org/project/pathauto

I tried installing that module, but it doesn't show up on the list with the other ones. I remember I used to have it installed a long time ago (I believe with 4.7) but deleted it shortly after. I removed everything pertaining to pathauto in the variables table, but it still doesn't show up. I've got another site that uses the same installation, and that site sees pathauto.
Any ideas?

Did you check the user Access permissions?

Especially Pathauto, which defines no new permissions.
@Jody - I've never heard of the problem that you're experiencing before.
Can you recheck everything and be sure you are using the 5.x-1.2 version?
Thanks, Greg
Hello,
Especially Pathauto, which defines no new permissions.
I don't actually see pathauto in the module list to even enable it. I can't set permissions until I have it installed. Oh, and I'm doing all this logged in as admin.
Can you recheck everything and be sure you are using the 5.x-1.2 version?
It is the 5.x-1.2 version. The odd thing is, I have two sites that share the same installation. On one site, I see it fine. On the other it doesn't show up. I did have this module installed long ago, but had since removed it. Can I check anywhere to see if something is stuck? Any ideas?

One other thing you might try. On the site you're not seeing the module. Check the cache level. You might need to Empty the _cache tables.

I've cleared all the cache tables. Still doesn't show up.

Does the file pathauto.info exist inside the pathauto directory?

The httpd process would need to be able to read the directory.

Aaah, file level access permissions. I read that as Drupal's user access control. Obviously there needed to be a little more verbiage to get the point across.

I double checked all my modules, and they all have the same permissions set, including the pathauto module. And, I've got one instance of Drupal, with two sites. One site sees pathauto, the other does not.

I didn't follow the orginal conversation. Are you using an account other than id 1 to do the administration?

I did, but it doesn't show up there either. I'm not even seeing it listed in with the other modules.

Where do you have the module? Under sites/all/modules/pathauto or under modules/pathauto?

Did you use to have it in another directory, even temporarily? For the site that isn't working search the system table for pathauto. Something like
SELECT * from {system} where `filename` like '%pathauto%'

I'm not sure how likely it is to find anything wrong there. I just recently moved a bunch of modules around on a Drupal 5 site, refreshed my modules page, and looked through my system table for problems only to discover everything was pointing to the correct place with no anomalies.

You didn't try with a multisite configuration. The site that isn't the default will not update correctly.

Outstanding, that took care of it. There was one lone entry in there pointing to where it used to be. I deleted it, and now it works fine.
Thank you so much!

You're welcome. One of these days maybe someone will find time to work on the multisite issues.
