Hi,
The event module is quite old, and I would not recommend it.
The best method of doing this is to use the cck http://drupal.org/project/cck , date http://drupal.org/project/date, calendar http://drupal.org/project/calendar and the views modules http://drupal.org/project/views to create an event node type and add the required fields.
Then you can create the method of displaying the information with views.
Gordon.

Ram,
Go to http://drupal.org/project/event
Only a dev version is available (see pink section below the green section). But at least it is recent which is a sign it is under active development and likely to come out with a stable version. You'd have to poke around in the issue queue, linked from the above page to determine just how far along the current dev version and how much risk you would be taking if you wanted to use it on a production site.

Hi,
I would not use the event module. With the new methods that are coming in Drupal 7 it would be better to use the date module.

the reason I like the event module is for the nifty little calendar block, also the graphical calendars in some of its views - is that offered with the date module.

Hi,
Yes I am pretty sure that the calendar module provides this.

I can't compare precisely.
But basically the answer is "yes" --> but you need to add the calendar module as well: http://drupal.org/project/calendar
