I'm trying to add funtionality to my site whereby when a user uploads a doc/pdf, on hitting submit, an image is attached which is a screenshot of the file's first page. Is there any type of module that could offer what I'm looking for?

Here is some sample code for PDF http://chirale.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/pdf-cover-thumbnails-for-attached-fi les/ - I don't know about the other types. I hope this helps.
