It seems to be a bug indeed with the module but as i said i did file an issue but no reply ...
Is there another way without the module? CA or rules?

New subject: discounts and SQL error (a lot)
Not that I know of. Feel free to try what you can. The quickest way to resolve the problem is try to get a message to the developer of the module and sponsor a bug fix. Otherwise, you can find the problem and fix it on your own and post a patch, which is what I would do.
