Hi. I have put social media share buttons on my test site but I can't get the facebook share link to share more than the url. I've been on many other drupal sites and facebook share opens a window that includes the page name, a teaser and an image. I have tried various modules: AddThis, Social Media and Widgets, Service Links and ShareThis. They all share but none of them displays more than the url.
I also installed the metatag module but can't figure out how to use it to possibly add tokens if that's the issue. I can't find anywhere to add tokens in any of these modules.
I'm not a programmer but am familiar enough with it to make minor alterations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can post screen shots if someone thinks they know what I am asking but is not sure.

Since it is Facebook, have you also enabled the metatag open graph module that comes with metatag? Unless you don't like the defaults, you should just be able enable this sub-module and it should work.

Thanks for your reply, Lucas. I did enable the open graph module. I can't find anywhere where meta tags are set in any of the sharing modules. I have two totally different websites I maintain and I have the same issue with both. I have no idea what I could have done that disabled the meta tags or whatever so that I just get a link when I share. Would it help if I post any screen shots? thanks Linda

No matter what I do I just get a link, no teaser or image, when I click the share on facebook link. I tried all the modules below, same result. I do have metatag and open graph enabled. I would be VERY grateful for any help on this. I'm totally at a loss...and I know drupal fairly well although I am not a programmer. thanks

You should try http://drupal.org/project/fb . This one has lot of features.

All I need is a simple "share on facebook" link that gives me more than a link. I'm attaching two screen shots, first one is what other sites (including drupal sites) produce second is what I get from either of my sites (this particular one is on my test site but it is live. Linda, Facebook must have changed their system recently, because I had set up several of my pages to display recent posts on one of my fb pages, and now I only get the link and it's graphic. Originally, I just used the code that Facebook supplied and inserted it into my page's code. It worked fine, whether I was on Drupal or another non-Drupal page. No need for a module. So, I suggest you look on fb's dev site and see if you can get what you want directly from them.
Let me know what you find, because I'm going to have to modify my sites too. Bill
