hi all, I installed drupal on my website and added my content to it ,the default content is still coming on the homepage and i am unable to locate the page where it is coming from .
The default content looks like " Welcome to your new Drupal website!
Please follow these steps to set up and start using your website:
1. *Configure your website* Once logged in, visit the administration section http://www.latentroutes.com/homepage/admin, where you can customize and configure http://www.latentroutes.com/homepage/admin/settingsall aspects of your website.
" How do i remove this content.
and also can i have urls like http://mydomain.com/aboutme than htp://mydomain.com/node/1 ? if yes how can i achieve that .
By default, any story you created via "Create content" should go to the main page. So we would need to know what administrative changes you made (publishing options on content types, access levels for different user roles, etc.).
You can access your content by going to Administer >> Content Management >> Content.
There you should be able to see the stuff you have created.
Edit a story or page and check the Publishing Options. Check "promoted to front page" on a story if it isn't already checked, and save your work. See if that helps.
Also, Administer >> User Management >> Access control will show you a page where different permissions are set for the various user roles that are in existence (by default "anonymous user" and "authenticated user"). In the node module settings, make sure the "access content" permission is checked.
Try these things, and if that doesn't work for you, come back with some more info on what administrative changes you have made.
saludos,

It is hardcoded in the node.module and appears when there is no content published in your front page (or when the user who is viewing the front page has no permission to view any of your content).

Create some content, publish it, and promote it to the front page. Make sure that all users, even anonymous, have permission to view this content, or else they will see that same message.

Enable the path module. Then an "url alias" option will appear in your administration menu, where you can alias "node/1" to "aboutme".

Just a note for the semantically inclined out there. There is no concept of promoting to 'places' in Drupal. Either the post is promoted or it isn't. Also, there is no such thing as the 'Front Page' which has to edited to get what you want. There are settings to set the default page displayed to users to whatever you want. Freshly installed, Drupal has that set to /node, which is by definition in node.module, a list of promoted nodes. To change the default page displayed to users, go to Administer->Site Configuration->Site Information and edit the Default front page setting there.
