Hello,
I'm setting up a site and i'm having some trouble understanding if I can accomplish what I need with taxonomy, and if so how?
I'd like to set up terms in a hierarchy with multiple levels. Now every time a node is edited or created, I'd like for the node to be linked to to each term according to the content. If the word book apears in the node body or node title and I have a term book. I'd like the node to be tagged with that term, and all others.
Anyone know of a module or technique for doing this?
Thanks
Idan

A little ironic you should be asking this. I was searching drupal.org today for a possible module that might already be written to tag all nodes containing a search term with a taxonomy term. I found the opposite where the search can find the taxonomy synonyms but I didn't find a way to create taxonomy terms from words in the nodes. Anyone know of a module that automates taxonomy tagging?

What module did you find, I'd like to take a look.

I'll take a look at this.
This doesn't seem to complex, I'm a bit concerned about performance, the module should search each and every term and check to see if it's in the node content fields.

This is the closest I can find: http://drupal.org/project/nat
Not sure on a direct solution, but have you tried free tagging?
It'll allow you to add tags on nodes, without having to have had the them set up.
Of course you've got to set the initial vocabulary up and enable free tagging on each.
Maybe some help?

If I'm not mistaken, such a module does not exist, but I can see the potential usefulness. Looking at the problem, it should not be difficult to implement.

Two potentially useful modules: http://drupal.org/project/yahoo_terms Which uses the "yahoo term extractor" to determine applicable tags based on your content.
http://drupal.org/project/suggestedterms Which suggests terms based on what they have already tagged it with.
I know that these conflict with some of your requiprements (hierarchical tagging, for example) but they are related and useful taxonomy tools. If you (or someone else) wants to write some code to achieve this then these should help provide ideas and examples that you could base the work on.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

I've created a module that does what I need based on the nat module.
If anyone wants to take a look and test I'll upload it.
One problem that I have is that taxonomy_node_save runs after my module and deletes all the node-term relations. If found a fix that if I change the module name to start with a letter after T then my module runs last. This feels a bit of a hack to me and I'm looking for another solution.
Also, any way to hide the taxonomy selection fields when I create a node?

A better, more consistent way, would be to increase the module's weight during installation. The weight is part of the system table in the DB.

hook_form_alter should work for you.
Idan
Thanks, how do I define the module weight? Currently I don't have an install file because nothing really needs to be installed.

Idan
Adding the node-term relation in hook_submit works in a module I wrote; it gets overwritten in hook_insert.

Hello,
I'd like to add a have the form to create a curtain node on the front page. I'm having trouble doing this, I know I can use nodeasblock to display any node on the front page but is it possible to have a create node from be a block?
Any ideas?
Idan
Look for the module by nedjo called 'Block Form.' It might be called 'Form Block' as I can't remember and I'm not at my computer at the moment.
