In looking at some of the contributed modules that I have yet to convert to D7, there are a few that I am seriously thinking of changing to Fields and Views, even though that means a bit more overhead than letting them remain as node modules. Doing that seems like it means the best way to distribute them is as Features.

A) Can I create a 7.x branch as a Feature without having to change the 6.x branches from their current nodule module format? B) or: Is there some way to define the node and get it to create a hook_install that could be used in a module? (I know I can do that for default Views.)
