All the sudden, my live site went from 5.7 to to 5.1. I have been trying to fix it last few days but to no avail.
I have 5.6 directory on the server in case something like this happens. I swapped 5.7 directory with 5.6 backup directory, and it still saying 5.1. I am totally puzzled.
- Ran update.php many times - Emptied cache table - Updated one of the modules under 5.6 backup directory, hoping it will shock something (ha-ha) but to no avail.
The real directory is called "/music/" which is made root by: RewriteRule (.*) music/$1 [L] I hope the way I setup isn't the culprit especially since this has been working fine since last July. I am no ;htaccess expert (or should I say no web dev expert), and someone suggested this. The reason why I didn't want Drupal files on root is that would make update harder and I didn't see any easy way to recover in case of emergency.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Do you have an installation of 5.1 on the same area? If so, see what is pointing to that directory. If not, double check that you actually have 5.6 and/or 5.7 installed by looking at the module's .info files for the version string.

I would look to the web server configuration to make sure something didn't get changed there. Maybe it's pointing to the wrong directory. Maybe there's a redirect somewhere.

Thanks for your response. I absolutely sure there are only 5.6 and 5.7 directories, and system.info does confirm this.

I did contacted with my ISP, and they told me they have moved the server just about the time my problem started, but .htacess looks the same, and am not sure what else I could hunt down.

Perhaps a browser cache issue. Try emptying your browser cache.

Hi Earnie, I wish it were that easy :-) I use Onyx to clean all sort of caches periodically. Also ISP Level 2 support confirmed they see the same version info discrepancy between the admin interface and system.info, and couldn't help me. I have two services from the same ISP. They are on the separate servers. The problem is shown on only one of them, anonemusic.com. The other one, puter.a-no-ne.com shows version 5.7 correctly. This thing has been driving me crazy :-(

The version string you see, is it the control panel of your ISP or is it from admin/logs/status of your Drupal site? If the former question is true then we can't help; it is an issue for your ISP. If the latter question is true, at the top of modules/system/system.module is a constant VERSION which is displayed.

You are the man (again)! Seeing your note above, I went look around deeper, and I found the cause of my problem. 'Available Update' module is the one screwed up. This is the guy keep telling me I have 5.1, while admin/logs/status is identifying the version correctly.
Puzzling is that puter.a-no-ne.com and anonemusic.com have the same Available Update module version, and the former is still working while the latter is screwed up.
At this point, should I remove the module -> update.php -> reinstall the module, or any other corse of action I should take?
Thank you, Earnie.

I don't use the available module so I'm not sure what I would do. How about contrib modules, are those up-to-date? Perhaps it is reporting on one of those.
