I’m looking to import nodes. Node import and Feeds are both pretty close, but I have to allow the User to select an optional entry for population.
Here are specifics:
I have a file full of just email addresses. I want to import this list and allow the user to fill out certain fields.
So, let’s say I have
user1@email.com
user2@email.com
user3@email.com
I want the user to be able to say, map this to email, and mark Department as (select list)… HR department. Or even text area. Select the field from the content type, and type in, “HR Dept.”
Suggestions?

Ah, you're not looking down the road, are you? You will eventually need an edit function. So why not go ahead and import all the addresses, and then use that edit function (possibly Views Bulk Operations) now.

We are planning to use VBO for editing, but bringing in the list of email addresses is the problem. We can do it. Heck we can just do SQL queries. But making it so the user can do it? Not so easy. Thanks for the input, though. It’s nice to get validation on our future plans. Any other suggestion to get the data in originally?
