I would be grateful for any insight in how to solve this issue:
When upgrading to Drupal 7.22 I get a Fatal error: Class 'FieldInfo' not found in /mnt/www/html/moh2011test/docroot/modules/field/field.info.inc on line 28
After many hours of trying to understand the message, I found a great post http://drupal.org/project/registry_rebuild that suggests this exact error is caused by a corrupted registry. I followed the instructions, added the registry_rebuild.php and ran it and got now error messages.
Reinstalled 7.22 (I had gone back to 7.21) and still got the error.
The upgrade worked fine on my local copy of my sites but not on the live versions. So I compared the registry tables in the database and saw that FieldInfo was on the local site but not live so I added it manually. Then I got this error message: Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/mnt/www/html/osb2011dev/docroot/modules/field/field.info.class.inc' (include_path='.:/var/www/html/osb2011dev/library/:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /mnt/www/html/osb2011dev/docroot/includes/bootstrap.inc on line 3102
Understanding what this means is just beyond me.
I compared all enabled and disabled modules on the local and live sites, set them the same and tried again. Still got the error.
I just don't know where to look. I'm not a coder so I don't really know what's going on behind the scenes and would appreciate any hints as to where I could look to find the solution to this problem. Thanks so very much.
have a look at the PHP version that is used by the host and on your local machine. PHP 5.3 is now recommended.

But note, Drupal is not ready for use on PHP 5.4.*. Stick with PHP 5.3.* versions.

Thank you...I rushed home, reinstalled drupal 7.21 on my dev site (all modules are up-to-date) and upgraded to php v 5.3. Checked, all successful. Then I installed 7.22 again and got the same error--*Fatal error*: Class 'FieldInfo' not found in * /mnt/www/html/osb2011dev/docroot/modules/field/field.info.inc* on line *28* * * I am so lost here...I always keep my drupal version updated on my sites and this is the first time I've had a problem I couldn't figure out. I'm thinking of going into the database and manually disabling all contrib modules...any other thoughts would be much appreciated! thanks again

Well, I disable every contrib module I could and get the same error. Obviously I can't disable those that have fields attached to them. Could it possibly be a field? I suppose since I've set up branches on a dev site I can delete fields one by one and see if I find anything. But how could I possibly have the exact same error on two unrelated sites? The only thing in common is that they are hosted on the same server. But as far as I know the code bases are distinct.
Next week I'm going to DrupalCon and hopefully can find someone who can help me if I don't get it figured out before I leave. I've probably spent upwards of 25-30 hours already trying to figure this out.
thanks again

So, field.info.inc, is using a class FieldInfo that isn't defined in the current runtime environment. Why isn't the file field.info.class.inc containing the class not loaded? Do you have the field.info.class.inc file? Do you possibly have another instance of the field module?
