I need to produce instructional pages in book format.
- Is there anyway I can have multiple book type? When audience click on taxonomy, the type needs to be meaningful instead of generic "book".
Here is how I started: http://localhost:9000/mh/mioconsoleconnect The format is images and descriptions. I used image_assist, which is rather a mess. I do have thickbox but I need popup window for this section. Anyway, the most I need is to store images to specific directory per section rather than the generic image directory where image_assist piled 2,000+ files already.
It was surprising that there isn't an easy way (I am a noob) to create cck for this type of node. As far as I can see, the only way is to create tons of image field and text field and place them one after the other. I also found Inline filter to be inconvenient.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Look for the NODE TEMPLATE module. You can use the BOOK and any other nodetype as a template for new ones.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I need a duplicate of book content type, and need to be able to give specific content type name to each one of them. Node Template is only for copying the format of the node, if I am not mistaking.

If you are asking how to have more than one book, the answer is to create a new book page, and assign it to the top level of the hierarchy -- it then becomes a new book.

Node Template and the similar Skeleton module do not just copy the format of a node. They copy a bunch of nodes structured in a hierarchy.
But I see that this is not what you are looking for. Perhaps the Outline module (http://drupal.org/project/outline) which supports different node types for the top level books (and any node types inside the book)..

Yes! Thank you! This seems to work exactly the way I was looking for, except I am getting the error all over the places:
warning: Error parsing sites/all/modules/outline/outline.info on line 4 in /includes/module.inc on line 195.
I have been googling around if there is any info on this but to no avail so far.

The error message says that line 4 of "outline.info" does not make sense. From what I see, line 4 is "version = $Name: DRUPAL-5--1-0 $", which I think is obsolete. The 5.x.-1.x-dev version doesn't have this error.

Thank you again. It was kinda weird. I installed 5.x-1.0, I was warned by Available Updates module that I should install 5-1.x-1.0 and I installed it. That didn't stop the error.
I just realized it was different from 5.x-1.x-dev. 5-1.x-1.0 isn't even listed at the module page. I installed the dev version and error has stopped. I am afraid of dev version in general. My horror story on my next post....
