I've noticed some on some of our sites. I'm not sure of its status, but I believe captcha module provides for captcha points to include the contact form.

One small change we made stopped nearly all the spam we were getting - not sure if it will work for you though...
We removed the default category from the form. If a visitor doesn't specifically pick one of our site specific categories, the form doesn't work.
