Duplicate entries - support

      Would appreciate some help please.
Using Drupal 6.19 all modules are up to date.
When I make an entry of an event I get a pink page full (14 so far) of 
error messages:
* user warning: Duplicate entry '1045-0' for key 1 query: INSERT
      INTO content_field_contact (vid, nid, delta, field_contact_nid)
      VALUES (1045, 1045, 0, 1044) in

      field_event_date_value, field_event_date_value2,

There is only one fresh entry consisting of a title, first name of the 
convener, start date and time and end date and time and that it repeats 
monthly for n months.
Error occurs regardless of selections made.
I find also that any entries in new contacts, events, new titles, also 
produces similar errors.
It seems, but I'm not sure,  that the number of errors may be the same 
as the number of items to be entered.
What causes this and how can it be avoided.
