Dear All, Reading the help file with the module "*Backup_Migrate"* I get the following instructions, which I, of course, follow to the letter:
*INSTALLATION: * Put the module in your drupal modules directory and enable it in admin/build/modules. Check! * Go to admin/user/permissions and grant permission to any roles that need to be able to backup or restore the databse. **Check!* * * Configure and use the module at admin/structure/backup_migrate* *I just get the normal structure screen: no hint of backup_migrate or am I blind to something.
Thanks Tony *
Addendum: Have tried with the latest Dev and Prod versions./

Hi Tony,
I assume you are on Drupal 7?
You find the configuration under Configuration - System - Backup and Migrate.
Not sure why the instructions are wrong (or misleading).
Good luck, Andre

Tony,
While we are on the topic of backup_migrate. Remember that backing up the database to the same box that your Drupal install is on has some beneficial use-cases but *it does nothing* for a disaster scenario where your drive crashes or you no longer have access to the box for some reason.
Backup Migrate now comes with email, FTP and S3 options which are awesome. They all have some security issues though.
I've played around a lot this week with Amazon S3 and had success using backup_migrate to write backup files to S3 buckets. I've wrapped my mind around the permissions functionalities at S3 enough to significantly mitigate the security concerns that come with backup_migrate. I'm very excited about it and I'm hoping to write a doc page about it this weekend.
Good luck with Drupal and backup_migrate... awesome stuff.

Shai: would one encounter any email restr4ictions on size at, say a 200 MB database?

Nancy,
Yah, I'd only use email if I knew the file was going to be < 25MB or whatever the gmail limit is at the time. But using the backup_migrate profile functionality and selecting to compress with tar and by selecting to not back up search, cache, access, and watchdog tables, you can still have pretty sophisticated sites coming in at < 25MB.
