Gang,
I'm having a bear of a time getting photos to line up in a Views grid. The photos themselves are being cropped and made by imagecache, so they are exactly the same same size. I've set the fields to be inline so Views is generating spans instead of divs, cause divs aren't supposed to go inside table cells, right? But that made no difference.

I checked out the page in FF and Chrome on Mac, and everything looks lined up pretty neatly.

I'm no CSS expert, but since the amount of caption image text you're using on each row isn't the same you need to set and give your table rows a default height that's greater than the highest expected image + text size, as well as align the image to the top of the table cell so the text starts immediately below.
