I still have not been able to get PHPList to work. I think the problem is a limit on my hosting company. Does anyone know of a cheap hosting company that has PHPList that could send out weekly emails of about 5,000.

We have multiple CS sites running and multiple sites using phpList. Some of our lists are over 20K subscribers.
At the moment, I am trying to figure out whether phpList is working UNDER CS. We can send to the list. But, I am having a problem with the way the subscriptions work. I've posted three or four times on the CS list and not gotten a response and I haven't had the time to dig into it to determine if it is working and I am trying to use it incorrectly or if it isn't working.
If you are interested, I've copied the info about the subscription problem below.

I can now send. But, I appear to have some other problems and I am not getting any error messages at all.
When I click "list subscriptions", I get a formatted screen (headers, menus, etc.) but, I do not get a subscription list or even titling for the subscription list.
So, I don't know whether I do not know how users subscribe or whether there is something else wrong.
I can see email addresses subscribed to the lists in the admin area - but they are all addresses I added manually.
So, I see no way for a registered or unregistered user to subscribe. The list is set to "Public".

What hosting company do you use that allows you to send out 20,000 emails?

Warning. Use this email system for confidential communications at your own risk. The President of the United States has issued an executive order allowing the National Security Agency to surveil domestic email, telephonic communication, U. S. Mail and all other forms of communicaton. Although no communication can be guaranteed to be secure, confidential communications made in person at an unknown location arranged via pigeon carrier, smoke signal, or commercial courier are suggested.

Likely correct, most hosting companies will block mass emailing (like they block after 100 sent). All in the name of spam prevention, they don't want to risk getting prosecuted for sending/allowing spam.
Alternatively, use a desktop program like worldmerge (www.coloradosoft.com) to send out your weekly bulletin.
Good luck! Ken

How would that help the problem, I'm curious. Aren't you still using someone's mail server (your web host's or your ISP's) to send those out, even if you generate them from your own computer?

There must be hosting companies where people are using PHPlist or other mass mailing software, even if they cost somewhat more-- does anyone have any suggestions?
