Paola,
These are the sites I mentioned - this was posted to the Drupal NYC group. The developers had described the sites as intended to have a networking area for an entrepreneur community. I haven't actually had time to check them out myself yet.
Story 'Lullabot Podcast about IncBizNet.com and FastCompany.com' by pmaiorana
For those of you interested in learning more about the Drupal sites and social networks that we're launching at Mansueto Digital, which I discussed briefly at last night's NY group meetup, the Lullabot podcast and interview with our president, Ed Sussman, just went live.
They cover a range of topics like why we chose Drupal, some of the firms we're working with to launch the sites, and our experience with Drupal thus far. Jeff Eaton and James Walker were also on hand to address some of the technical details of the sites like our custom modules, OG implementation, etc.

We are lucky in NYC to have some interesting big corporate sites represented in the local Drupal group, like the above and Sony BMG.
Hope this helps,
Jean Gazis

Greets drupal support list
hope you are all well, and happy new year! I hear that v6 is going to be out?
I am pulling up an old thread,
re. person schema
Jean, any news on the sites below, and or modules? If necessary I can
make
a start (add person schema properties to user module so that users can enter values to describe themselves according some existing reusable schema)

There are some organizations that have people in the NYC Drupal Group are using Drupal to develop "social networking" sites. They are launching in the next month or two and some of the development will be contributed back.

is there a way to integrate taxonomies now in the v6 version? the rationale for integrating vocabularies is because we use the same terms
in
different sectors, but hang such terms from different classification
systems
depending on what sector is used. I am looking to the functionality to support the following procedure (see the slide at the end which shows
how
different taxonomies are connected at the term level(node) despite
different
structures

is there a way of implementing a better people xml for drupal? doesnt have to be foaf has to be a people schema, flaxible so that users can create their own field I think profile module can be easly used for that (add a field) but I need to export the profiles via xml, both individually, selectively as an aggragate feed (select all the profile with tha criteria and export to xml)
does drupal have something like this in mind? If not, I can put in
the
pipeline and work at it if useful to others too
cheers
