Drupal 6.13

This semester, I am encountering a new problem I never had before. When student create their account, the role is automatically attached, which belongs to previous semester, not current. I must remove the role and apply current student role manually, which has been quite time consuming.

I use RegKey for OG per different section of my classes, but this doesn't seems to be relevant. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? As far as I remember, the role used to be unassigned.

Of course it would be nice if I have a way to set the role for all the new registration, but can't find such module so far.
