Hello,
Is it possible to assign the ownership of a node to another user upon creation. The node creator chooses who to assign the node to.
James
Yes it is. You need to use modules like 'node access' and 'node access user reference'.

If you just want to change the name of who authored the node as you create it this exists in Drupal core. Look at the Authoring information on node/add pages and you will see a lookup box. If you can edit the node you should be able to change the authoring information. I also found this module http://drupal.org/project/override_node_options which might be of help to you while Googling to see what permission this was attached to.
Hope this helps,
Steve
