I would like to use the Private file system with SWFTools and CCK to display some videos, but when I do, I get an error saying the file doesn't exist. I'm suing SWFTools 6.2.5 with FlowPlayer3. Web root is /home5/basicsfo/public_html/drupal, and the files directory is set to /home5/basicsfo/public_html/drupalfiles. Permissions are set to writable on drupalfiles and videos directories. I have a Video CCK type with a filefield (File Upload widget) for uploading the videos. The path for the field is et to videos (i.e. /home/basicsfo/public_html/drupalfiles/videos), and the option for the field in Display Settings is SWF Tools. When I upload the .flv files, it gets stored in the files table with the correct path, but the file is not actually put in drupalfiles/videos. But even if I manually upload the file to that directory, I still get an "200 Stream not found NetSTream.Play.Streamnotfound clip: [Clip] "http://mysite.com/system/files/videos/TS1.flv". If I use the Public upload method and upload to sites/default/files/videos, everything works fine. Is there something else I need to set up to get the uploading and playing to work properly?
Thanks.
Steve
The more l look at this, the more I think it's an issue with the player itself not being able to recognize the alias created by Drupal (mysite.com/system/files/videos/TS1.flv in this case), so the alternative is to use the Public method and then lock down the directory via Apache. Does anybody see a problem with this approach?
Also, if anybody has any examples that they've used for something like this in .htaccess, that would be great. I'm Googling and reading up on it myself, but any real life Drupal examples would be great.
Thanks.
Steve

This is pretty simple, but it requires you have an element with an id towards the top of the page. For example, your page title may have the id "title" or your center region may be have the id "center". If you have no such element, you can create one with a block: Administer > Site Building > Blocks > Add Block Description: Id Block Body: <span id="top-of-page"></span> Input format: Full HTML You can then place this Id block at the top of your header region.
To make the [top] link is a very similar process Administer > Site Building > Blocks > Add Block Description: Top Link Block Body: <a href="#top-of-page">[Top]</a> Input format: Full HTML Note that "top-of-page" should be whatever id you found towards the top of the page. Then place this block in the Footer region.
You'll probably want to play around with block visibility (to limit it to pages with content on them rather than all pages), but this should give you a start.
