Greetings from a very damp Cambridgeshire
I would like to send a one-off message to all (about 90) authenticated members in the simplest possible way. It will be a simple text message just drawing their attention to a new poll.
I've looked at a couple of email modules but they seem either overkill or buggy.
Alternatively is there a way to harvest members' email addresses so that I can send an group email from my MUA.
TIA.

Have you check Advanced User[1]? It still has problems with the profile fields but what you explain here is functioning.

Couldn't you just grab the list from the user table?

Hello Earnie,
Thanks for the reply but could you elaborate on:
" Couldn't you just grab the list from the user table?"
Many thanks.

Did you check http://drupal.org/project/mass_contact? I've tried out recently several modules for the same purpose: finding the most simple module that just can send an email to all registered users and found that one as the most easy one.
Good luck,

Thanks to both Earnie and Hans for responding.
In the end I just manually typed in usernames and addresses into an address book in The Bat!, sent the email to myself and BCC'd the list. I can manually update the list as (if!) new members join.
As I'm running this site for my local doctor's practice I'm loathe to stray too far from the core modules unless I'm confident that contributed modules are robust and need little tweaking.
It does seem to me that a *simple* facility to send a message to one's members is needed. It need do nothing else, no bells, no whistles just send a message to all authenticated users. I wish I had the time to learn these new-fangled languages so that I could write it myself but my coding career ended nearly forty years ago!
