You know the "U Edit" module?

AFAICT this module would solve the problem I'm having... if it was only available for Drupal 6. Sadly, it isn't. There isn't even a development version for Drupal 6.
If anyone knows of a *similar* module that is available for Drupal 6, I would be extremely grateful. I have searched and searched and I haven't found anything similar.
