Hello all,
I am using Drupal 7.10 with mix_and_match theme. In content types/manage fields, I am trying to create a field of type 'file'. In Drupal 7, this type is supported by default. But I don't get file type in the field type dropdown box. What could be the reason?

Isn't file type provided out of the box by drupal 7? So, why would I need a file module. I can see file type in my installation if I switch to garland theme.

Did you look at the display settings ?

do you mean "manage display" in content types? If not, where can I find 'display settings'?
