Just like Emacs being an operating system masquerading as an editor, CiviCRM
is its own huge application that is masquerading as a Drupal module.

Also, I sometimes use the moniker CiviMonster because of the memory
footprint that I encounter when CiviCRM is enabled on a web site.

Jokes aside, there is no alternative to CiviCRM in the rest of the Drupal
universe. So rearchitecting is a good thing to do, and I hope it takes into
account the resource usage part.
