[drupal-support] deep integration with an existing site...

I am wondering about how to wrap Drupal into an existing site. I run a site which is like a big database, with lots of URLs that are basically queries; like a dictionary... site.com?tag=lookupWord how could I get Drupal to respond to these requests? I'd like Drupal "pages" to be wrapped around these URL, with all the commenting features etc. I can insert my own "page" to pull out data/DB queries using a template. But I need unique Drupal nodes for each of these pages, so the comments stick to each page. Any thoughts/pointers on how to achieve this? Is this a flexinode project? tx, /dc

hiya - are there any docs on end-user using the internationalization module? I have it installed + seems to be working, but not sure how to remap node URLs etc. There seems to be some behind-the-scenes creation of new nodes, but i want to be able to explicity reference what is created. eg en/top jp/top -- flag icon also, how to control the visibility of the little "flag" icon - can this be added to the main navigation template of the site? -- language setting it doesnt seem to "stick". eg if you are looking at a page in one language, then click a link to go to another page, it goes to the en version of that page... is there a way of referencing the translation? eg node/32/en -- template parts can $site_name $site_slogan etc be translated? -- language switcher? is there a way to trigger the language setting that is buried in the users configuration? eg with a GET url so i could create a link something like: <A href=setLang.php?lang=jp>JP</a> and then write a script to dig into this? -- anonymous user lang settings? thanks for any info! /dc

My Drupal 4.6.1 is up and running on my localhost box (Mac OS X 10.4.1, Apache 1.3.33, Php 4.3.11, mod rewrite on) everything works flawlessly but the forum. I have enabled it through the admin/modules page. Hi folks, I am still struggling with this problem. PHP Admin acknowledges the import of a file and says it was successful. It does not do anything though. The database does not get updated. Nothing changes. I can export, but I can not import. Anybody know why? I tried different files to import. Nothing works. My host gave me the suggestion of switching to Fire Fox. Unfortunately, I don't think it works very well with speech. Besides, I really don't think that is the problem as it worked before. arg Regards Notes:

hello! does anyone know how to make the links menus depend on the users current language settings? using the internationalization module, it is possible to have the actual drupal system menus (eg "admin/create content") text be localized, but for menus where I create the content, is there a way these strings can also be replaced based on language? eg the so called "primary links" menu (like support|downloads| etc on drupal.org ) I guess the other option is to have two sites like: site/en site/jp but that would probably mean the user would have to register twice etc? thanks!

Hello, I am trying to import files into my sql database to create multiple sites. I have been fiddling and importing files since I last sent a post. When I pull in a file. It says the operation was successful. My instructions have been inserted and how many. None of the tables show up though. Also, when I log into PHP Admin, it gives me this general message: . Error The additional Features for working with linked Tables have been deactivated. To find out why click here. When I click on it. All it says is: PMA Database ... not OK I can not see the screen, is there a link to click on to save the import? Maybe my speech is missing something. Best Regards

Hi all, I am using drupal on a multi-language site, which supports english and malayalam. The language malayalam is a multibyte language. So the default settings for limiting the length of a subject line is too short for languages other than english. My question is; How can I change the length of comment subject line? Is it a good practice? What is the effect of this when i want to do an upgrade. I am running drupal 4.5.1. thanks, Paul

Hello, If I want to host multiple sites and I change the $db_prefix in a new settings.php file, do I have to re-import tables with the new prefix or does drupal figure it out? What about aded modules and other additions? Hope you are doing well. Regards Christopher
